Netdevil Announces Big Change in Billing!!

NetDevil is pleased to announce the launch of a new billing system for Jumpgate Classic and other NetDevil products. Our new system dramatically streamlines and modernizes all billing operations and is expected to improve our customer service response by internalizing the Jumpgate billing process to NetDevil.

Better Features

For the Jumpgate Classic community specifically, the NetDevil billing system also enables the following long-requested features:

- Simplified account reactivations
- Choices for billing period length
- Easy password changing and lost password retrieval
- No credit card requirement for Free Trial
- Free Trial period lengthened to 14 days

Support Changes

PayByCash services remain a payment option within the new system. However, Internet Payment Solutions will cease to provide direct billing and credit card services for Jumpgate on 7 April 2008.

The support email will now be pilot_support@netdevil.com for all billing concerns, as well as for all game and technical support matters.

As a result of the system cutover, all billing for Jumpgate Classic through Internet Payment Solutions (including both PayByCash and SaberCharge) is being terminated as of 7 April. All game accounts will remain active until the end of their current billing period through Internet Payment Solutions, at which point they will automatically be cancelled.

New account creation will likewise use the new system from 7 April.

Account Transfers

All customers who wish to maintain an active Jumpgate game account are asked to please visit the NetDevil Account Management website at the following URL to transfer your game account(s) to our new billing system.

Simply create a NetDevil ID for yourself, choose "Sign up for Jumpgate Classic", and select the option "Transfer an Existing Account" in order to set up billing for your account. Please note that if you happen to own more than one Jumpgate game account, you will only need to create one NetDevil ID from which to manage them. Billing via the new system will only commence after the former IPS billing period for the account has elapsed.

Reminder emails regarding the account transfer process are being sent to all customers who had a current email address in the IPS billing system, but we recognize that coverage via that system is likely to be incomplete.

We do apologize for the inconvenience of the need to conduct the account transfer. The drastically improved features and service deriving from the new system should make the brief transfer process well worth it.

TRACY-17 request page returns to active duty

After a bit of a struggle (brought under control by judicial use of a tazer and a 5lb. sledgehammer), TRACY-17 was finally persuaded to release her access control over the request system allowing RT-Mus to dig through the internals to search for the problems the Hyperial cyber monkies left behind on their rampage several weeks ago.

JPR's website suffered a setback when a team of rabid Hyperial Space Monkies snuck into the facility during restocking of the JPR DJ Bar and Restaurant following recent Station Events.

The Monkies were quickly repelled from the station through the valiant efforts of Station Staff and resourceful DJ's who hurled GM Istvan's complete Abba collection at them. Unfortunately, the terrorist monkies caused considerable damage requiring several days of downtime to repair and recover.

The good news is Tracy-17 was unharmed and is in good spirits following a thorough checkout by rt-mus. Tracy now stands ready with new security measures and HSM countermeasures should they make a return.

JPR Station management had no comment when asked about using the Abba collection as WMDs.

Important: patch server transfer

Early next week, the old patch server will be taken down. For everyone who has already patched to 1.0112, this is irrelevant.

For anyone who has not patched up their local copy of Jumpgate, the transfer of patch functions will result in extra work. The old patch software written for Jumpgate in 2001 or before does not provide for dynamic changes to the target patch server.

The easiest thing for anyone to do if you possess an installation of Jumpgate - even if you do not have an active account right now - is to simply patch up your copy by running the game in the next few days (before the 29th). You do not have to log in to patch up, so your account doesn't have to be active.

I ask everyone in the community who might know someone who had an account but isn't playing right now to direct your erstwhile squadmates, friends, or acquaintances to this announcement, and encourage them to just take a few minutes to automatically patch up now and save themselves a little trouble later.

Once the old patch server is gone and cannot hand players off to the new hardware, anyone who hasn't patched must either manually download and copy a small data file that will point their patcher at the new server, or must uninstall and then reinstall the game from a new installer (which already exists with links in the usual places on JOSSH). I'll add links in this thread to the data file by the time the old patcher is decommissioned.

Again, the easy thing to do is just run the game to patch up to the current version now.

TRACY-17 recalibration

It's that time of the year, folks. TRACY-17 is in desperate need of a systems check-up, as well as a file re-sort and clean up. I will be working through her filestructures reorganizing her song database, updating the tag systems and archiving a lot of the un-listened-to songs.

Jumpgate Evolution Gets Award... Already!!

That's right folks! Hot off the wires to the JPR News Room is this announcement from MMORPG.com:

This week's game of the week is Jumpgate: Evolution, an updated version of the original Jumpgate, but with improved AI and gameplay, and of course, a stunning graphics update.

The folks at NetDevil earned this week's position as game of the week with the demonstration they put on for MMORPG.com staff at the Austin Game Developer's Conference. While we were in awe of the graphics and AI behavior, they commented on how they had received a number of emails from fans, scolding them for touching up and altering their screenshots, because what they were releasing looked too good to be true.

It turns out that disbelief is one of the highest compliments that one can pay to a game developer, because it turns out that the game really does look that good.

Tracy-17 Back Online

The admins and staff of JPR are proud to announce the resumption of service to the JG Pilot Corps by our favorite female robot, Tracy-17.

Tracy went offline earlier this weekend when she received word that King Monkey might be coming by the station. Apparently the memory wipe done to bring her back online before didn't go quite deep enough.

The smiling and relaxed Station Technicians assure us that Tracy is now "fully functional" (whatever that means) and ready for action. (Memo: Schedule a briefing with her...)

The Return of Galaxy Man and Star Boy to JPR

That's right! The fine folks at JPR have been working tirelessly for the last few weeks and it's now time to spread the good news. Galaxy Man and Star Boy will be returning to Jumpgate Pirate Radio with new episodes, new characters and all new adventures!

Some of you may remember this dynamic duo from years gone past. For you new folks you're in for a real treat. Galaxy Man and Star Boy are bold space adventures who's wacky antics are well known all across TRI space. They may not be very good at what they do, but that's what makes us love them so much!

So get ready for something new and exciting from these two every week on Jumpgate Pirate Radio!
